Quinoa and Tempeh Nori Rolls
Realised: I am silly enough to eat a teaspoon of wasabi and then proceed to go back for more. It is just one of those things – there must be something satisfying about that ‘smacked in the back of the head’ feeling.   I don’t know. I’m not going to question it.   Another one of those ‘things’ is the increasingly popular quinoa sushi roll – it is the prom king of sushi. I’m sorry Mr...

Middle Eastern Easter
A chocolate coma is a grand and mysterious thing isn’t it? A bit like the Macarena I guess. Wildly unpleasant yet we still go back for more.   I love Middle Eastern cuisine and what better time of the year to experiment with these gorgeous recipes? I am officially promoting Yotam Ottolenghi to master status. His book Jerusalem is not only beautiful, but a wealth of culinary and cultural...

Green Smoothie
Just a quick post before I head off to work this morning. I’m hoping to take some time out within the next day or so to post up some exciting Easter recipes I have been working on. But in the meantime, I thought I would share with you my morning musings.  [[MORE]] One of the few things that get me through an hour long spin class in the morning is knowing that my fridge is full of goodies. Goodies...

Saturday Markets
I know many a foodie whose idea of a great Saturday morning involves one (or all) of the following.. a) sleeping in b) reading the paper c) strong coffee d) freshly baked croissant or bagel e) breakfast in bed  (if your birthday happens to fall on a Saturday or if your family are preparing to ask you for something) [[MORE]] Call me mad, but I love nothing more than getting up nice and early...

Banana and Raspberry Egg white Pancakes
Clearly I am not very fond of breakfast. Seriously though, I seem to be on the breakfast bandwagon at the moment. I shouldn’t be shocked though, it is the best meal of the day. Ironically though, I made these for lunch today, but that is beside the point. These little golden mouthfuls of goodness are nutritionally balanced – a great start to your day, post workout boost, indulgent Sunday brunch.....

Pumpkin pie stovetop oatmeal
I need you to sit down. If you’re holding a coffee, I suggest you put it down now. I need to get something off my chest. It might change the way you feel about our relationship and if it does, I completely understand.  [[MORE]] Here goes..   I don’t absolutely love pumpkin pie. There I said it. I feel cleansed. Don’t get me wrong. It isn’t the pumpkin itself. I love the flavour and texture of...

New Year and a new start to your day!
As a new blogger, I have struggled to find my ‘voice’. Friends associate me with big over the top desserts usually laced with salted caramel or peanut butter, but in my day to day life I prefer to eat a clean, wholesome and balanced diet. Of course, these two personas don’t really go hand in hand. But why can’t they? I mean, it is nothing new – there are already a myriad of healthy...

A Christmas Post.. that is almost as full my...
In an attempt to combat some of the preceding Christmas day guilt, I thought I would treat my guests to some decadent yet (surprisingly) healthy desserts – well, two out of three anyway.   [[MORE]] As the designated vegetarian, I also put together a couple of salads in an attempt to try and convince the carnivores at the table that veggies aren’t all that scary.. oh, and to accompany the...

..sticky date crème brûlée's
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I like to think I’m queen of the crème brulee.  There is just something so enticing about cracking into a crunchy layer of burnt sugar before plunging into a pot of silky custard. Orgasmic no? [[MORE]] Yes. I did just compare eating a crème brulee to sex. It is even better when I hide things in them only to forget and then rediscover them...

Let the blogging begin!
One cannot think well, love well and sleep well if one has not dined well sang Virginia Woolf as she flung open her oven - the glorious smell of freshly baked biscuits filling the room. At least that’s how I imagine it happened. Snow white style. Is it going too far to say that I also envision furry woodland creatures and bluebirds flittering around her kitchen? [[MORE]] More to the point...
